We put our money where our mouth is!
I’m so proud to announce our continued support for a number of charities, as well as the addition of a few new ones. We’ve always supported children’s health & managing illness. Since we opened our art business in 1998 we’ve supported Starlight Children’s Foundation, CEO Sleepout & Movember. This year we’ve expand our commitment to helping kids, by adding the Ronald McDonald House to our list of charities. We truly believe, as corny as it sounds, that our kids are our future & they deserve every chance to be whatever they want to be & I’m sure to make the world a better place.
In addition to our expansion of supporting kids health, we’ve added another initiative that is close to my heart – the gift of sight! The Fred Hollows Foundation is an organisation whose purpose is to restore someone’s sight, to bring back their independence, ability to work, or get an education… and of course, the ability to see – experience visual art! Ending avoidable blindness through medication, surgery, education, prevention and training is also part of helping people out of poverty, which The Fred Hollows Foundation sees proof of everyday through their activities & donations. More specifically, closer to home (Australia), it’s an injustice that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders still don’t receive the same level of eye health care as the rest of non-Indigenous Australia. With 94% of vision loss for Indigenous Australian adults being preventable or treatable, there’s a lot to be done. We strongly support taking care of the original owners of the land we are so lucky to live on. We should do our utmost to protect and honour those that came before us.
